You must have read my previous blog about Mondo Juice Megamall for you to fully appreciate this post. You can consider this a part two-of-sorts. 🙂
Having an awesome first experience, my fiance and I made sure we’d drop by the second Mondo Juice branch – and that is the one in Robinsons Galleria. And so we did.
It was a bit smaller than the Megamall branch but the interiors played with curves and lines, perhaps to give the small space more fluid and spacious dimensions. Kudos to the designer. The walls were also decorated with principled health statements from Mondo Juice itself such as “Hide and Seek: We don’t play games with your smoothie…” and “Made by Nature: Assemnled by Mondo Juice.”

What to Order
Now for the beverage-choosing part, we made sure to order something else from which we have already tried. My Mondo Marjorie chose the Sippin’ Strawberry premium fruit smoothie while I tried something from the “Exotic” fruit smoothies category for the first time – Raspberry Rush.
Mondo Juice Menu
Mondo Juice Menu Board
The Sippin’ Strawberry sticker labels says that it’s a mix of strawberries, mangoes, cranberry juice, and nectar. The solo is priced at P135 while the ‘Mondo’ size is P180.
Mondo Juice Sippin’ Strawberry
My Raspberry Rush is a combination of well, raspberries, strawberries, low-fat yogurt, and cranberry juice. Although the price is more premium at P160 for solo and P220 for mondo, I liked its taste better, perhaps due to the low-fat yogurt which made the juice’ texture slightly thicker but still natural and in good taste.
Mondo Juice Raspberry Rush
To complete our meal, we shared the Beef Pastrami sandwich (P165) which was also our first-time to order. Â Aside from the beef pastrami, it has lettuce, onions, mild cheddar, and honey mustard on a black sesame whole wheat ciabatta. It was one protein-filled sandwich with a healthy bunch of stuff. 🙂

WIped-out Mondo Juice Fruit Juices
I consider this a good closing article to our brief back-to-back Mondo Juice mini-series. It somehow felt complete having visited both the SM Megamall and Robinsons Galleria branches of our newest beverage place of choice that is both healthy and refreshing – Â Mondo Juice!
So called ‘fruit juice bars‘ and ‘smoothie stands‘ have sprouted around the metro in the recent years, trying to ride on the “healthy lifestyle” bandwagon. But only very few can claim to serve an all-natural, real fruit smoothie without added sugar, syrup or sweeteners – that’s Mondo Juice.
Being a ‘Megamall guy,’ I’ve been passing by Mondo Juice in SM Megamall for so long as I can remember. But it was only recently that I actually tried it upon the prodding of my fiance who have tried and blogged about Mondo Juice way back in mid-2011.
Mondo Juice Fruit Smoothie
And so I tried, and regretted it. I regret why it was only now that I gave-in to my fiance’s recommendation to try Mondo Juice. 🙂
We came from a full-house Starbucks shop so I eventually agreed to her suggestion of trying Mondo Juice as I always welcome the thought of trying restaurants I have never been to.

Mondo Juice High-Powered Blenders
My Order #1: Blushing Mango & Turkey Pesto
Mango has always been one of my favorite fruits so I decided to go ‘safe‘ and chose the “Blushing Mango” from the Premium Fruit Smoothiecategory. It costs P135 for the solo size and P180 for the ‘Mondo‘ (big) size.
The other smoothie categories were ‘Homegrown‘, ‘Buzz Smoothies‘, and ‘Exotic‘, among others.
I was also offered add-on options such as yogurt, oatmeal, soy milk, and honey whose prices ranged from Php 15 to Php 35. As much as I would like to have those healthy add-ons, I decided to have the smoothie as it is. I wanted to know how it fares without the extras.
Blushing Mango Smoothie
Hungry as I was, I ordered a Turkey Pesto sandwich to match my smoothie. The smoked turkey breast slices were calling out to me complete with the green peppers and rustic pesto in between two Italian herb Focaccia breads. 🙂
As so it was served.
My Blushing Mango smoothie came in a transparent cup where you can see all the goodness of the fruit and pulp (no rinds/roots), and an informative sticker at the back. Mine turned-out to be a blend of mangoes, respberries, and nectar amounting to 3.5 big servings of fruit hitting upto 140% of my vitamin C need.
I had my first ‘sip‘ and I can almost feel the toxins flushed down. 🙂
Grilled Turkey Pesto Sandwich
Her Order #1: Mango Magic with Ham & Cheese
Not to be outdone, my Mondo Juice advocate and fiance named Marjorie ordered her all-time favorite ‘homegrown‘ fruit smoochie smoothie called Mango Magic(P125 Solo). She partnered it with the traditional – Ham & Egg sandwich.
Based on the back sticker label, the magic in her Mango Magic is a mix of mangoes, nectar, and orange juice with a whooping 161% of vitamin C! It goes further saying “the only thing fresher grows on a tree.” 🙂 With the 1/3 pound of fruit in each Mondo Jucie cup, the recommended five servings of fruit daily has just been met!
And without hesitation, she made her ‘sip‘ and said “ahhh.”
Mango Magic with Ham & Cheese Sandwich
My Order #2: Blueberry Bonanza + Kiwi Fruit & Jello
An hour after, needless to say, we wanted more. Round 2 was imminent.
I then consulted the sales crews and asked which one is their bestseller. The unanimous answer was the “Blueberry Bonanza“! Again from the premium fruit smoothie category, it had the same price as my first one at P135 per ‘solo size‘ order and P180 for the Mondo.
Blueberry Bonanza Smoothie
Mondo Juice Jello
Adventurous as I am, a group of jello encased in interestingly hard plastic containers on the left side of the display piqued my curiosity. I browsed through and selected the Kiwi Fruit & Jello over the Lychee and Mandarin Orange-infused ones.
Kiwi Fruit & Jello
On first ‘sip‘, I already knew why the Blueberry Bonanza is the bestseller. The natural blend of blueberries, mangoes, bananas, and cranberry juice was harmonious. You have to try it for yourself.
The Kiwi fruit & jello was fine with good kiwis and jello fruit juice. It’s something different for a change. I think the kids will love it too. For something healthy, parents out there should seriously consider this as a snack for their kids.
Her Order #2: Proteinzone Super Smoochie Smoothie
From the start, I never doubted she would take seconds for Mondo Juice.
My Mondo Marjorie scanned through the menu board for quite a while similar to how she scans through dresses, gowns, shoes, and bags while shopping in department stores.
I was afraid.
Three mondo minutes after, she finally exclaimed: “I think I will try something different this time!”
I was even more afraid.
Ready to face my fears, I gathered enough courage and asked her straight to the point: “What’s your order as the cashier is waiting?”
She looked at me intensely into the eye and finally said … that she wanted to try the Proteinzone Super Smoothie booster (P145/solo;185 /Mondo). In the same category are the ‘Detox‘ & ‘Power-Up‘ smoothies.
My Mondo Model: Marjorie (with her Proteinzine Smoothie)
Proteinzone Back Sticker Label
Surprisingly, on the other hand, she’s passing up the sandwich and hinted to share with my Kiwi jello instead; which is not a problem of course. 😛
The smoochie smoothie finally came and it turned out to be a concoction of raspberries, bananas, nectar, cranberry juice, a shot of soy protein at 4g and fiber of 2.35g per serving! (I don’t know what’s the standard, but it impressed upon me that it’s much!) 🙂
‘Sip‘!
Completing the menu board of Mondo Juice are fresh pressed juice, hot drinks such as coffee, tea, and chocolate. Other cold drinks include iced coffee, brewed ice tea, and lemonade.
There are even honeyed nuts and mango cashew nuts available by the counter.
Her Proteinzone and Mango Magic!
The Mondo Juice Advocate & NomNom
Undoubtedly, it was a no-fuss afternoon of all-natural fruit smooches smoothies with my fiance at Mondo Juice Megamallwhere we can drink it straight, without the sugar and syrup bait.
So where were the ‘smooches‘ in the story? It went in-between ‘sips‘. 🙂
It was interesting to have met BonChon Philippines head honcho Scott Tan last week where he shared a technique on how to eat BonChon chicken wings. As trivial as it may sound, I was amazed that one can eat about half of a crispy fried chicken wing in one bite. 🙂
As inspired as I was, I had to go back to BonChon two days after and try it myself. So, together with my gf and another friend, we found ourselves back at the BonChon BGC branch which opened just a month ago.
BonChon BGC
Generally, my favorite chicken part is the meaty breasts and thighs, the wings come last. However, with BonChon’s original Korean crispy fried chicken secret recipe, the wings (in soy garlic) are my favorite!
BonChon Chicken came to the Philippines back in November 2010 and has since grown to 19 branches today including Alabang Town Center, Ayala Triangle Garden (ATG), Shangri-la Plaza, SM Mall of Asia, and One Parkade in BGC. Check out more about the contemporary Korean brand BonChon Chicken at www.bonchon.com.ph.
BonChon Crispy Chicken
Korean Yogurt
I also found a new item in the BonChon menu board – the Korean Yogurt called BonChon “Ko-Yo“. They are available in Banofee Pie and Blueberry Torte variants for P70. The plain one is P35.
I found the plain one too small and I think the P70 variant is more cost efficient in terms of size (a.k.a. worth it). I also asked what was the difference between a Korean Yogurt and regular yogurt. I learned that Korean yogurts are less sweet and tastes more tangy.

How Do You BonChon Video
And of course, I am not ending this article without my personal video of the “How Do I BonChon?”
Yoshinoya is one of my favorite quick service Japanese restaurants. Although they often adjust their menu prices upward (specially in the previous year), their service is commendable and food quality is maintained.
Yoshinoya Pihilippines
So it’s always a good news to know when they have something new in their menu. In particular, I was invited to their launch last month wherein they introduced a number of new Yoshinoya dishes and highlighted some existing favorites such as the Shrimp Tempura, but now also served in a bowl .
Here are the new dishes from Yoshinoya Philippines:
Yoshinoya Tokyo Chicken – golden brown pieces of grilled chicken marinated in ginger-infused sauce served with mixed vegetables and steamed white rice.
Tokyo Chicken
Shrimp Tempura – crispy golden brown white prawn and deep fried garnished with a special tendon sauce.
Shrimp Tempura
Tokyo Beef – tender slices of beef with fresh onions sauteed and garnished with seasme seeds and capsicum slices over steaming white rice.
Tokyo Beef
Pork Tempura – breaded pork fillet with sweet potato and eggplant on the side over steaming white rice plus drizzled with special tendon sauce.
Pork Tempura
Veggie Beef – tender slices of beef simmered with onions in a broth of herbs and spices served with mixed vegetables and steaming white rice.
Veggie Beef
Chicken Tempura – breaded chicken chunks with sweet potato and eggplant fan on top of steaming white rice with special tendon sauce
Chicken Tempura
Pork Tongkatsu – deep-fried breaded pork fillet topped with special tonkatsu sauce with cabbage siding over steaming white rice
Pork Tongkatsu
Yoshi Chicken – deep fried and double coated marinated chicken dipped in a special sauce served with steaming rice.
Yoshi Chicken
Among the new offerings, I found the new Yoshinoya Yoshi Chicken most tempting.
Although obviously, it was concocted in response to the new fad of flavored chicken such as Bon Chon, Chicken Charlie, and Chicken Delish, Yoshinoya’s Yoshi Chicken is almost at par with the crunch and the flavor of the sauce.
I enjoyed the taste test and will surely be back to try all those new dishes from Yoshinoya in full servings. 🙂
Touted as the “Best Chicken in America” by New York Times, GQ, and Esquire, BonChon seems to be on it’s way to the same status here in the Philippines.
BonChon Chicken Menu
With presence in Ayala Triangle Gardens Restaurants row, Greenbelt 1, SM Megamall, Libis, Robinsons Galleria, Greenhills Promenade, and Makati, US-based Korean brandBonChon has been known for its fried chicken’s super crispy, light, and non-greasy outer layer that comes in soy garlic or spicy glaze. I belong to the soy garlic cult. 😛
But this blog is not about what you already know. It’s not about what you are used to. 🙂
The MORE
If, just in case, you are already tired of the spicy glazed BonChon chicken wings you have been ordering twice a day, everyday, for the past few weeks, I’d just like to tell you that there’s more to BonChon Chicken than just ‘chicken‘. 🙂
BonChon Calamari
BonChon Calamari
First in my list of recommendation is the BonChon Calamari. You may dismiss it as your ordinary fried calamari with breading but I love it’s ultimate crunchiness. Make sure to have it with the spicy mayo dip.
A serving is priced at P125. Not cheap for the size, but worth the taste.
BonChon Fish Tacos
BonChon Fish Tacos
Next comes their Lenten favorite introduced last April 2011 which now became a menu mainstay – the Fish Taco. Fried and glazed just like the BonChon chicken, it also comes in either soy garlic or spicy glazed (with toothpickinsert). Placed in the center like a taco and topped with Kimchi coleslaw (shredded cabbage, tomatoes, et.al.), the Fish Taco is priced at P75. They use soft taco, by the way, and the fish is Cream Dory.
Foodie Tip: Buy the Fish Tacos Meal that comes in two plus a drink for only P150.
BonChon Ginger Tofu Salad
BonChon Ginger Tofu Salad
On a diet and protein-conscious? This is for you. It’s basically a green salad with tofu cubes and ginger dressing. You might also chance upon some crispy wanton strips. I found it wanting though; so they could actually put more of that. P125.
BonChon Bulgogi Ricebox
BonChon Bulgogi Ricebox
The Bulgogi Ricebox is basically a rice meal with a generous serving of bulgogi (sirloin beef) on top. Reducing my rice intake, I am more interested with the Bulgogi wrap which has lettuce and kimchi coleslaw instead of rice. Both is priced at P125
Did you know that the BonChon Calamari, Fish Taco, and Ginger Tofu Salad are unique to the Philippine franchise? Interestingly, BonChon international is open to their local franchisers’ ideas on localizing the menu.
Owner Mr. Scott Tan also mentioned that they are looking into further expansion with an Alabang Town Center branch opening soon, among others.

Remember the “However-You-Want-It Frappuccino Blended Beverage†article two months ago which showed ways to create blended beverages with a variety of syrups, toppings and intensities? Well, here’s some newer flavors Starbucks came up with which will be offered starting tomorrow, June 28!
The Black Sesame Green Tea Cream Frappuccino blended beverage is a mix of “matcha powder and black sesame powder, blended with ice and topped with whipped cream and black sesame seeds” while Soy Strawberries and Cream Frappucinois made with “soy milk blended with ice, infused with strawberry sauce and topped with whipped cream.”
Want to create something uniquely yours? Here’s how to create your however you want it Frappuccino blended beverages:
Request any milk:
Nonfat, whole or soy
Choose the coffee intensity:
Regular, double, triple, decaf
Or choose “cream†for a coffee-free beverage:
Strawberries & Cream
Vanilla Cream
Caramel Cream
Chocolate Cream
Chai Cream
Green Tea Cream
Chocolate Chip Cream
Soy Strawberries and Cream Frappuccino
Select your syrup or blend of syrups:
Mocha
White Mocha
Mint
Raspberry
Vanilla
Caramel
Hazelnut
Classic
Sugar-free Vanilla
Choose whipped cream, light on the whip or no whip
Add a topping:
Mocha drizzle
Caramel drizzle
I’ve tried and I’ve discovered that I’m lousy at experimenting with my Starbucks concoctions so I guess I’ll settle with trying out the new Starbucks Black Sesame Green Tea Cream Frappuccino and Soy Strawberries and Cream Frappuccino blended beverages first! 😛

Pizza stores are on a roll in the Philippines, I think. In the last six months, I was invited to press launches and gatherings in relation to almost all the following developments:
Moreover, I also heard about Papa John’s Pizzahaving also entered the Philippine market. However, it was only last March when I got to try the pizza brand in their Robinsons Galleria Veranda branch.
The Veranda is one of the newest foodie hangout in the Ortigas area as part of Robinsons Galleria‘s answer to the market’s increasing demand. It was also my first time in the Veranda and they have an intresting mix of restaurants and food spots. More about the Veranda restaurants this month of April.
Back to Papa John’s, I was able to try a bite of their Chicken BBQ and Fisherman’s Catch flavors in both large, hand-tossed, and thin crust servings.
The Chicken BBQ pizza consists of grilled chicken, bacon bits, and onions. I love the sweet and tangy BBQ sauce lining the top layer.
Large 14" Chicken BBQ Pizza by Papa John's
The Fisherman’s Catch is a combination of shrimps, calamari, green peppers, onions, and signature garlic sauce. Ideal for the upcoming lent, the Fisherman’s Catch is a good one. Other lenten specials options include Garden Special, Simply Cheese, and Margherita Special).
Large 14" Fisherman's Catch Pizza by Papa John's
Papa John's Pizza Box
After tasting them, I knew then that founder “Papa” John Schnatter got it right. I believe they will be able to capture the Filipino palate and go a long way.
Both 14″ large pizzas are priced P530 ( 12″Medium – P430 ; 9″Small – P300 ; Jr. Papa – P150 ).
But the star of our meal was the Super Papa.
As its name suggests, Super Papa seem to have it all with the combination of pepperoni, Italian sausage, ham, mushrooms, onions, green peppers & black olives.
At P550, this is NomNom’s recommendation among the three (although all three were superb, promise).
Large 14" Super Papa Pizza by Papa John's
Papa John's @ the Veranda, Robinson's Galleria
Although their pricing levels are a little above the average ones we have in the market, the taste and quailty of their hand-tossed pizzas seem to match it. Better ingredients, better pizza, indeed.
Check out Papa John’s at the Veranda in Robinson’s Galleria. I sure am going back, Mama!
