Enjoy Filipino Food Vibe @ REDD in The Prism Plaza

It was my first time to visit the Prism Plaza right beside SM Mall of Asia when we met with Alex and his friends at Redd – a restaurant that is unique in its own way.

From the uniform corporate external facade of the establishments around Prism Plaza, you would find the contemporary interior design of REDD edgy and passionate. Perhaps the flare of the red hues tamed by the steel greys, and the pointy triangles, did the trick.

It was still early in the afternoon so we found the whole 100-seating capacity of Redd restaurant all to ourselves, including the adjacent karaoke room fit for a barkada, and the inviting liquor bar across the room.

The Karaoke Room

As a usual courtesy for any meeting group in the Philippines, you fill your stomachs first. 🙂

The Filipino menu came as a bit of a surprise. With the modern look I described above, it wasn’t immediately evident that they serve mainly Filipino dishes. So we gave it a try; a lot of them.

Redd, Filipino at Heart

I should have gotten a clue from the karaoke room – a typical part of Filipino culture. The folks from the restaurant were proud of their fares such that they offered a lot and we took their word for it so tried most of their best-selling dishes.

We started of course with the appetisers; Sinfully appetizing sisig variants. Some FIlipinos may refer to them as pulutan best paired with beer.

Other choices are the Juana Fries, Nacho Gwapito, Sinuglaw, Chicharon Bulaklak and Iba Ka Lumpia.

The restaurant offers a cozy and casual ambience prefect for unwinding, coupled with Filipino comfort food that spans the three main islands of the country. It is a good place to eat good food that is familiar to the Filipino taste, but served with a fresh perspective.

While it is an ideal watering hole at night, daytime dining is equally as pleasurable, with palate-pleasing bestsellers such as their Roasted Chicken Pochero, Chicken Pork Adobo, Kare-Kare Trio, Short Ribs Kansi, and Crispy Pata.

Those looking for healthier choices can go green from the Oh My G! portion of the menu that includes the gata-goodness of the Gising-Gising and the fresh and crisp veggies of the Pakbet de Iloco.

The menu choices are tailor-fit for appetites, so they come in funny options of Pang Selfie, Pang Date or Pang Groufie serving sizes.

Budgets are likewise taken into consideration for the drinking sessions too, with promos for beer buckets and tasty bar chow including their choices of Corned Beef, and Bangus Sisig, and the best-selling Sisig ala Kanto which is prepared in the authentic Kapampangan style.

Aside from local beers, they also offer cool concoctions such as their Pinoy-themed drinks like the Mango Cloud, Coco Lychee, Ube Jalaya and alcoholic beverages from the Mixology section like the Sunset by the Bay, Alamat, Coco Martini, and Mojito de Guimaras.

For a sweet ending to a fantastic meal, try the Turon Overload that presents the Filipino favorite as a dessert that is sprinkled with cinnamon.

Enjoy. Entertainment

Aside from serving iced cold alcoholic drinks and mocktails, there are other activities to help you unwind at the red- themed lounge. A further look around the restaurant reveals a cool Beer-Pong game area on one side.

Their alfresco area also has a good vantage point for the Manila Bay sunset and is actually a hit during Friday and Saturday nights.

LOVE @ The Prism Plaza

The same is true, of course, during paydays when most patrons would have a good time over great food and music. The Prism Plaza hosts music band performances nightly at the central area.

I also saw photos online of the recent MOA Pyromusical as the venue offers a good angle of the fireworks show from its elevated floor.

With its good mix of Filipino food flare and entertainment both inside and outside the restaurant, I think it’s time to “paint the town Redd”! 🙂
