I can still remember our wedding reception from two years ago. Aside from our union and the marriage ceremony itself, it was the food of the reception which made a big impact to our guests, they were satisfied and praised the good food served them. It all came back when we attended the “Wedding Showcase” hosted by Aristocrat Restaurant a few weeks ago at their Roxas Boulevard branch.
Aristocrat Wedding Showcase
Aristocrat Wedding Showcase
An iconic Filipino restaurant in the Philippines, The Aristocrat is well known for the outstanding Filipino dishes they serve, most specially the Boneless Chicken Barbecue.
Acknowledging the changes in time and market preference, Aristocrat similarly levels-up the ante of food service in the events hosting industry. The Wedding Showcase highlighted the brand’s efforts in positioning itself as the preferred wedding reception venue for those who wants to make their occasion memorable while at the same, having good food.
The “Wedding Showcase” exhibited different wedding reception themes and setup from the quaint and simple ones up to the colorful and elaborate arrangements.

Food Tasting
During the launch, just like in a wedding reception, of course, we had food care of The Aristocrat Restaurant.
We were able to have a taste of their Pork Barbecue, Embotido, Callos, Lengua in brown sauce, and Fresh Lumpia Ubod, among others. It was a nostalgic experience from a brand that started since 1936.

The Aristocrat Bakeshop
In addition, I also saw a setup of The Aristocrat Bakeshop, something I was unfamiliar with as I didn’t know beforehand that they have a separate bakeshop group. I loved their buko pandan while the Torta delos Reyes cake is something I am looking forward to try.

Me and my wife just had our birthdays the past two months, July and August, respectively. And we had a gamut of cakes at home during that time; not that we are complaining. 😛
I always think of children when I think about cakes. You can see the delight in their eyes when they see cakes, specially the colorful ones from Goldilocks. Be it their own birthday cake, or their friends’, they have the same level of glee and excitement.
So imagine if you double the delight with a duo cake such as the Goldilocks Duo Marble Cake.
Goldilocks’ Duo Marble Cake

Mastering the flavor of both vanilla and chocolate, Goldilocks Bakeshop has combined the goodness of the two in the new Duo Marble Layer Cake!
The Duo Marble Layer cake is a delightful combination of vanilla and choco chiffon cake iced with vanilla buttercream, lined and decorated with streaks of chocolate frosting.
Its creaminess, sweetness, and boldness in flavor will surely bring double delight to your kiddies!

My wife is a fan of olive oil in her dishes and recipes. Moreso as she delves into more healthy and organic produce brought about by our organic farm tours around the Philippines with the most recent at Old Kano’s & Discovery Country Suites Tagaytay.
Oliviers&Co.
So it was a delight when we SSI Group invited us over a sumptuous lunch to unveil Oliviers&Co.‘s new olive oil collection at Vask Modern Tapas in Manila earlier today.
Oliviers&Co.
Oliviers&Co. is renowned for its superb catalog of gourmet olive oils, condiments, and seasonings using the finest ingredients and sound processes. Led, by sensory analyst Eric Verdier and CEO Albert Baussan, the company continues to push for precision—from hand-harvesting the olives to tasting pre- and post-bottling with a third test at the boutiques and finally, to packaging.
As Verdier puts it, he measures the oils “by taste, by nose, and by luminescence.â€
From a humble history of affiliating with families and small cooperatives to now partnering with 300 mills in France, Spain, Italy, Greece, Croatia, and Portugal, Oliviers & Co. maintains the standards that have made them invaluable to internationally acclaimed chefs.
New Olive Oil Collection for 2015
Oliviers&Co. continues to innovate and surprise the palate with new concoctions. This year, 10 new olive oils have been meticulously selected as part of a new collection that offers deeper eloquence to dishes.
The Agrolaguna is a rare oil from Croatia. Leccino and Picholine olives create a smooth but intense taste, and a flavor that’s both vegetal yet nutty makes it a versatile ingredient for vegetables, meat, cheese, and even desserts.
Azienda Agricola Perotti Olive Oil
More delicate profiles like seafood and chicken breast benefit from an oil like the Moulin La Cravenco, which was harvested from Baux de Provence, France. It’s exceptionally creamy—almost like butter—and with sweetness reminiscent of apples, it would also complement baked goods and fruits.
Moreover, Oliviers&Co. bottle oils in the tradition of the finest wines, identified with the label “Grand Cru.†One of these is the Monva olive oil. This Spanish gem comes with robust tart notes that could certainly inject life in lighter fare or add extra zing in ice cream!
The Sao Sebastiao, from Madural Cobrancosa, and Verdeal olives, hails from Portugal. Undertones of dry grass, olive leaves, and tomato leaf bring out the best sides of cooked vegetables and meats like veal, chicken, and beef.
Quinta Olive Oil
Ravida Azienda Agricola Olive Oil
Finally, Oliviers&Co. prepares their oils in small, limited batches, just like this new collection.
In the Philippines, Oliviers&Co. (O&CO) is exclusively distributed by Specialty Food Retailers, Inc. (SFRI), a member of SSI Group, Inc. O&CO boutique is located in Central Square, Bonifacio High Street and Greenbelt 5, Ayala Center.
