Dessert In a Cup!
June 13th, 2017 — Food, Foodie News
Starbucks Philippines has new offerings from beverages, to food, to Starbucks Cards! But it’s the new Starbucks Frappuccinos which leads the pack with the Banana Split Mocha Frappuccino and Irish Cream Coffee Pudding Frappuccino.
New Starbucks Frappuccinos
I call the tandem “Dessert in a Cup!” Surely, the foodie term ‘Banana Split‘ rings a bell pertaining to a much-loved local ice cream house known as Magnolia Ice Cream which we have enjoyed since our childhood years.
And now, Starbucks is bringing this childhood favorite in a form of frappuccino. The new Starbucks Frappuccino flavors are the Banana Split Mocha Frappuccino and Irish Cream Coffee Pudding Frappuccino.
The former is a mixture of Mocha Frappuccino blended with banana puree, then layered on top of strawberry whipped cream and finally drizzled with chocolate and crunchy waffle cone pieces on top.
For the coffee lover, the second one is basically made of coffee and pudding made more special with Irish cream on top. I’ve tried both and I love the Banana Split Mocha Frappuccino. The Irish Cream Coffee Pudding Frappuccino is just ok for me.

Lime Torte Cake
New Starbucks Food Items:
How does a Lime Torte Cake, Mango Crunch Cake, and Chocolate Marshmallow Cake sound? They sound delicious, don’t they? 🙂
I went to Starbucks Circuit Makati the other day for the Neverland Manila Young Gunz EDM party so I passed by the Starbucks branch first for some bites, And guess what, I saw the Lime Cake and I ordered it.
I didn’t expact much actually. If you’ve tasted the Lime Cake from Sagada Province north of the Philippines, the other lime cakes would usually pale thereafter.
In contrast, it was surpisingly good! The new Lime Torte Cake was a symphony of flavors and texture with its sweet and tangy flavor partnered with crunchy and crumbly cake.
I’ve yet to try the other two, but I’m already excited to go back to another Starbucks branch. 🙂
Other new Starbucks food items I’m looking forward to try are the Whole Wheat Bagel, Bagel Bites filled with Cream Cheese, Blueberry Greek Yogurt Parfait and Mango Greek Yogurt Parfait which are finished with a sprinkling of crunchy oat granola on top. Add to that the Starbucks Cold Brew Pitcher Packs as well.

Carte D’Or Gelato: Soon in the Philippines
May 4th, 2017 — Food, Foodie News
Carte D’Or Gelato, a European gelato brand present in
in Italy, France, Russia, Brazil, and Turkey, among others, is coming to the Philippines very soon – May 23, 2017 to be exact!
Carte D’Or Gelato Making with Chef Miko Aspiras
Carte D’Or Gelato is closely working together with multi-awarded and premier pastry chef- Chef Miko Aspiras. In the media launch, we got to personally experience how to make a simple Pistachio-flavored gelato under the tutelage of the aforementioned chef.

Moreover, NomNom Club got first dibs to try and taste how the Carte D’Or Gelato tastes like.
Let’s get straight to the point – it’s creamier and more flavorful than your ordinary ice cream!  I’m not surprise though as most of its ingredients are of quality and sourced from different countries where a particular ingredient is produced properly. Each pint of Carte D’Or gelato is crafted using real cream from Australia.

Interestingly, Carte D’Or choose the Philippines to be it’s launching pad in SouthEast Asia. Yes, we’re the first one in this region to have Carte D’Or Gelato. Perhaps, upon studying the market, they learned how much of a sweets and ice-cream lover the Filipinos are.
Carte D’Or is initially launching 4 flavors:
- Pistachio
- Double Dark Chocolate
- Salted Caramel
- Choco Hazenut
These four flavors are among the staple flavors of Carte D’Or Gelato in other parts of the world. Come October 2017, expect a new set of new flavors which is bound to be even more exciting.

Does “Double Dark Chocolate” sound delicious to you?
This is where Chef Miko Aspiras plays a bigger part, as well.
Together with the Carte D’Or Gelato Philippine team, Chef Miko Aspiras is currently in the process of crafting special “Filipino” flavors that will use local Philippine ingredients. This would be an interesting twist to Carte D’Or Gelato and having some flavor/s we can call our own.
An exciting development to look forward to. An ‘ube‘ (taro) flavor perhaps? ‘Durian‘ might be stretch though. Both sounds very Filipino to me, nonetheless. 🙂
What do you think the Filipino Carte D’Or Gelato Flavors would be?

Kudos to Chef Miko Aspiras in developing these Philippine flavors and to the Carte D’Or Gelato team for bringing Carte D’Or to the country! Indeed, it’s “more than ice cream“!
