F @ F1 Hotel, Bonifacio Global City

The cafe name says it all, F for Fabulous! This cafe is housed at the newly opened F1 Hotel at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. The hotel is a franchise from world renowned hotelier, Best Western International.

Best Western hotels are known for modern and edgy interiors and at the same time tasteful. F1 Hotel did quite well on this.

F, located at the hotel’s 5th level is also a sight to see. It will certainly not fall short in your expectations as it has almost 300 courses and desserts in a spread to satisfy your palate. F restaurant sports a light and relaxed atmosphere with tables positioned with the glorious view of the pool deck.

The cafe serves buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner and like any other buffet, the courses change daily.

Dining in a buffet could be tricky because you easily get overwhelmed with all the food you see and end up full at your 2nd course.

With F, the concept is simple and well sectioned, most of the dishes are separated per type and helpful chefs are stationed to serve you.

My best tip on buffet dining is to eat less rice or pasta and go though each dish section by section, that way you make sure you tried everything the cafe offers.

Jamba Juice Philippines Opens in BGC Tomorrow

No, it’s not a new drink offering by Krispy Kreme. But the same owners of the Krispy Kreme franchise in the Philippines – Max’s Group of Companies – is bringing the brand from the US to our local shores – Jamba Juice.

Jamba Juice is one of the top fresh juice brands in the United States catering to health buffs who want their juices natural and pure (You might have heard of the brand in some western movies shown recently).

No sugar, no chemical preservatives” -  says Krispy Kreme Marketing Manager Mark Gamboa who shared the news to NomNom Club 2 months ago during the Krispy Kreme Alabang branch opening and gave hints of this upcoming development.

Jamba Juice Launch and Location

And here we are, tomorrow, November 11, 2011, Jamba Juice Philippines formally establishes its presence locally as they open their first branch in the new extension of the posh Bonifacio High Street – 7th Avenue Boni High Street SOUTH – in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. It is right across R.O.X. (Where is R.O.X.)

Even though I’m currently in Taiwan and will miss this, I am just as excited as I am fruit juice lover myself who prefers them natural. Moreover, they will be having the same launch date of 11-11-11 as my newest gadgets and tech blog – GadgetGambit.com (GG)!

Know more about Jamba Juice Philippines in their website JambaJuice.ph, Twitter @JambaJuicePH , and Facebook facebook.com/jambajuiceph.

I surely hope to have a taste of Jamba Juice concoctions soon when I come back tot he Philippines in December!

Best Restaurants Guide & Philippine Tatler Charity Week: Dining with a Heart

On it’s 8th year of publishing the Philippines’ Best Restaurants Guide, premiere society magazine, The Philippine Tatler, with partner San Miguel Corporation, is once again organizing its annual Charity Week for a chosen charity.

Philippines' Best Restaurants

Philippines' Best Restaurants

Philippines’ Best Restaurants Guide

This handbook is a product of months of reviews of the current 157 restaurants and finest dining places in the country. It has served as a pocket guide for foodies, gourmands, and discerning diners for the best 100 restaurants.

Restaurants are evaluated on their cuisine, ambiance, service standards and price. The reviewers follow a standard rating procedure that encompasses the different facets of a restaurant – from the range of the menu and the wine list, as well as the competence and etiquette of the wait staff.

The Philippines’ Best Restaurants 2011 also included new sections such as the Best lists of restaurants excelling in various categories such as the Best for Tourists, Best for Wine Lovers, Best Chinese, Best Vegetarian and Best Steaks, among others.

Add to that Jessie Sincioco of Chef Jessie Rockwell Club and Chef Jessie Top of the Citi, Tippi Tambunting of Masseto, and Tomo of Taka.

Oakroom Restaurant Hosts “Indonesian Food Festival”

Having started the other day, the week-long “Indonesian Food Festival” hosted by Oakroom Restaurant (Oakwood Hotel in Ortigas) will run until the 21st of September.

Sata Ayam (Appetizer)

Sata Ayam (Appetizer)

Delight in the diversity of Indonesian cuisine and the combined influence from its neighboring countries. Discover authentic Indonesian food from the islands of Java, Sumatra and Bali as prepared by Executive Chef Deden Suherman and Chef de Partie Sulistyo who both came from Oakwood Premier Cozmo Jakarta for this festivity.

This is my first time to have a full authentic Indonesian meal prepared by an Indonesian chef and it was a good experience. I also found some similarly equivalent dishes from our own like the Sop Buntut which I can compare with how ‘bulalo’ is cooked in the Philippines since Indonesia is a fellow South East Asian country.

For starters, we had “The Temptation” appetizer set which consists of:

  • Tahu Asi (stuffed tofu inside crisp breading-P295++);
  • Asinan Sayuran (refreshing serving of sliced fresh vegetables with cold sweet and sour soup – P295++)
  • Sate Ayam  (flavorful chicken skewers with thick peanut sauce – P395++)
Indonesian Appetizers: Tahu Isi, Asisnan Sayuran, Sate Ayam (left-right)

Indonesian Appetizers: Tahu Isi, Asisnan Sayuran, Sate Ayam (left-right)

For the main dishes, we first had Gado Gado (P350++), a plateful of mixed boiled vegetables with peanut sauce at the center. It can pass as an appetizer as well, actually. 🙂 (Top Photo)

Oxtail Soup (Sop Buntut)

Oxtail Soup (Sop Buntut)

This was immediately followed by the warm oxtail soup called Sop Buntut (P425++).

Things heated up again with the serving of spicy beef stew called Rendang Daging (P525++).

Spicy Beef Stew (Rendang Daging )

Spicy Beef Stew (Rendang Daging )

It was then concluded by Ikan Asam Pedas (P495++), a Western Sumatra spicy-sour fish dish.

The dessert set was: Sweet Es Cendol (rice flour  with coconut milk and brown sugar sauce – P225++) and Pisang Goren (fried banana topped with brown sugar – P225++). The Es Cendol is their version of our Halo-Halo.

Bajigur (Warm Ginger-based Drink)

Bajigur (Warm Ginger-based Drink)

I had both hot and cold ginger-based drinks called Bajigur (P175++) and Wedang Jahe (P175++), respectively. The former is a combination of coffee, coconut milk, brown sugar, and ginger, while the latter has boiled grilled ginger, lemon grass, clove, cinnamon, and brown sugar as well.

Other available dishes you could try in the Indonesian Food Festival include Bakwan Udang (vegetable fritters with shrimp P395), Mie Goreng (Indonesian Fried Noddles P375), Opor Ayam (Chicken cooked with coconut milk P325).

For other desserts and drinks, they also have  Ketan Sikayo (boiled sticky rice with pandan custard P225), and Sekoteng (boiled ginger, lemon grass, clove, white sugar, carnation milk, with fresh bread cubes, peanuts, mung beans and tapioca pearls P175).
