Last weekend, my wife and I went back to Kaishu Restaurant at the ground floor of Networld Hotel Spa & Casino along Roxas Boulevard. It’s actually our second visit to this Japanese restaurant since a few months ago.

It was a memorable one as it was our first time to dine in an authentic Japanese “tatami room“.
This time around, it was to try their “East Meets West 2” Dinner Buffet menu specially prepared by Chef Hosono, Kaishu’s Japanese Exectuive Chef, and Chef Arnel from Le Amoretto.
It’s our first time to try Kaishu‘s Dinner Buffet so we were not sure what to expect. Fortunately, it was a good one.
Here are some specific dishes we think you should not miss when dining at Kaishu’s Dinner Buffet which usually happens every 2nd and 4th weekends of the month.

Top 8 Dinner Buffet Dishes in Kaishu (in no order):

Seafood Soup Label
1. “Seafood Soup“
We started with soup without any expectations but the medley of a variety of seafood, including shrimps and clams, came out ‘just perfect‘ in this hot concoction with mushrooms.
It’s actual name is “KaisenShioShiruKoebi, Asari, Ika, & Hirataki Mushroom,” as indicated in the menu id. But I just christened it “seafood soup” for simplicity. 🙂

2. California Salad
The appetizers area is tucked in the quiet corner of the restaurant near the entrance door. I tried a number of them but it was the traditional California Salad which tickled our tastebuds with the right mix of sweetness while remaining savory.

3. Sushi & Maki Sets
And because it’s a Japanese restaurant, it’s not surprising that their sushi and maki does not only look good but tastes good as well as prepared by Chef Hosono who has been with Kaishu since 2006!

4. Shrimp Ceviche
Similar to the Filipino way of cooking called ‘kinilaw,’ the Shrimp Ceviche got it sour just right. Even if I’m not usually fond of ‘kinilaw,’ I came back for more Shrimp Ceviche that night.

5. Grilled Salmon with Cajun
Proceeding to the main dish, it was the Grilled Salmon with Cajun which hit the spot. Although my dinner was composed mainly of Ebi Tempura, my vote goes to the Grilled Salmon.

6. Roast Beef
Kaishu’s Roast Beef is specially prepared by Chef Arnel in the carving station complete with veggies and sauce. Tasty and tender, it certainly earned its special place and attention.

7. Shrimp Skewers
I love shrimps, so I’m a bit picky when it comes to shrimp dishes. The Shrimp Skewers in the line-up of mains made it to my list.

8. Chewy Brownies & Cheesecake
Kaishu’s variety of dessert is a bit limited in this case, but the Blueberry Cheesecake and the Brownies gets special mention here specially the latter one for it’s surprisingly soft and chewy texture that night.

On the other hand, I really hoped Kaishu would have a green tea ice cream very very soon which is found in most Japanese restaurant. 🙂
