Starbucks Philippines started to offer a new line of beverages and food items both for snack and lunch yesterday, February 21, 2017, and there’s a lot! They also released a new Starbucks Card on the same day – a special edition of the Starbucks Siren Card.
Lunch @ Starbucks
We were in Greenhills lunch time yesterday so we made sure to try some of these new offerings. We visited the Missouri branch and ordered a number of new drinks, Starbucks sandwiches as well as their new Bistro Bowls.
Me and my wife each ordered the new beverages: Valencia Orange Cocoa Cappuccino and Tahitian Vanilla Macchiato, respectively.
I had mine cold while she had it served hot. While I usually have it no-whip, I didn’t have it removed this time for your indulgence – so I could show you how it really looked like as is. 🙂
The drink is mainly composed of valencia orange mocha sauce combined with milk and topped with a dense foam. It is then layered with affogato-style signature espresso shots, cocoa powder and orange peel bits you can see in the photo. <3
I like it’s tangy twist from the usual coffee experience. I believe they had a beverage similar to this sometime early last year as well; but I’m too lazy to look back at my older blogs to check the name. For wifey’s drink, I knew she’ll order the Tahitian Vanilla Macchiato for she’s a sucker for anything macchiato-based; and she’ll have it hot. 🙂
It’s composed of steamed milk infused with floral Tahitian vanilla syrup and topped with Starbucks’ signature espresso. And finished with a crosshatch of vanilla bean sauce and topped with ground vanilla bean pod sprinkles. (Price: Short-P155; Tall-P165; Grande-P180; Venti-P195)
It was ok for her, but I preferred my drink, of course.
Bistro Bowls & More
For food, we shared on Cold Soba with Chicken, Sweet Potato Salad, and the Salmon Dill on Multi-Grain Bread. These were all the last pieces for the day as they immediately run out of them as early as 12 noon!
The Bistro Bowls sell at P135 a piece. They are also available in select Starbucks Philippines branches only.
After a few shots of the food photos you see on this blog, we devoured all of them as we’re a bit hungry by this time of 12:30pm-ish. 🙂
We found the bistro bowls‘ packaging interesting enough as it’s a sort of do-it-yourself (DIY) food meant to carried away. After opening the transparent bowl, most of the ingredients are separate form each other to maintain consistency and avoid spoilage.
It comes with a plastic ‘separator’ near the lid where the other ingredients are to be mixed with the rest upon opening.
If I’m not mistaken, this is the first time Starbucks is offering a dish like the cold soba. Well, it’s cold, and it tastes great! A welcome and refreshing new item where as before, Starbucks only releases sandwiches and the more recent pasta variants.
The Cold Soba with Chicken contains soba noodles tossed in a dressing with crunchy vegetables and chicken flakes.
Just to be clear, the second one was a Sweet Potato Salad. I first thought it was a ceasar salad because of the green leafy veegatables. But upon opening, you’ll discover the generous servings of potatoes and sweet potatoes at the bottom of the bowl. It also has onion, celery, mixed greens and hard-boiled egg tossed in honey mustard dressing.
I suggest you consider the Sweet Potato Salad for breakfast as well as sweet potatoes are good in the morning for digestion purposes.
But the runaway winner for NomNom Club is the Salmon Dill on Multi-Grain Bread (P175)!
The salomn dill concoction went well with my drink and the mult-grain bread is love. Love for health, and love for texture care of the multi-grains. It’s my new favorite lunch sandwich!
As an alternative, the bistro bowls above would also be great with a Tall Iced Shaken Tea at a special bundled price from 10am to 2pm as part of Starbucks Signature Lunch Pairings.
