Sugar Factory American Brasserie Opened in Manila Today!

When NomNom Club got an invitation to try out the then soon-to-open Sugar Factory in BGC last week, we were excited for the expectedly “sweet” treats!

Naive of the “Sugar Factory” brand in Las Vegas, I assumed it was a dessert place. I was wrong.

When I arrived at the pre-opening private lunch gathering of foodies, we were met with a full-blown menu and big servings of entrees, plus sweet treats, of course! 🙂

What is Sugar Factory?

For the unfamiliar like I was, Sugar Factory debuted  in the Las Vegas Strip back in in 2009. This dynamic American brasserie and retail store offering signature confections and merchandise is now in the Philippines as they officially opened earlier today, much to the delight of sweets lovers and those with healthy appetites for the western cuisine.

Sugar Factory is known the world over for its celebrity-endorsed Couture Pops, which have turned sweets into the latest designer accessory. Iconic superstars including Britney Spears, Drake, Nicole Scherzinger, Kim Kardashian, Eva Longoria, Carmen Electra and Rupert Grint are just a few of the celebrities who have either endorsed or have been spotted with the sparkly lollipops. They also have branches in New York City, Bahrain, Chicago and Miami.

The Sugar Factory Menu

Their signature menu offers everything from pancakes and sweet and savory crepes to salads, burgers and pizzas, all available throughout the day.

We got to try some of their signature dishes and it was a feast for both the eyes and the stomach.

For starters, we had the Bruschetta (P280) salad consisting of tomato, basil, extra virgin olive oil and parmesan on a grilled baguette. The Chinese Chicken Salad (P440) and Sampler Platter (P820) [top photo] came next which is a plateful of Buttermilk Onion Rings, Crispy Chicken Fingers, Buffalo Wings, Mac & Cheese Pops served with dipping sauces.

The Red Velvet Pancakes was also a refreshing break from the usual pancakes we have and it came with choice of either dark, milk or white chocolate.

The lunch entree highlights were led by the Chicken Parmesan (P420) – chicken breast seasoned, breaded and served with tomato sauce, melted mozzarella and rigatoni.

Another big serving came in the form of “The Big Cheesy Burger” (P695) consisting of an angus beef burger topped with melted white cheddar, creamy mac & cheese, generous bacon and served with BBQ sauce on a toasted potato bun. It had me at bacon.

And now for the sweet talk! The insanely giant milkshakes was an instant attention-grabber in sizes bigger than your face and overflowing ingredients!

Of note were the Dulce de Leche Milkshake (P830) and Nutella and Banana Milkshake (P890)

The former is a vanilla ice cream blended with dulce de leche and topped with whipped cream, waffle cone, unicorn pop, and sprinkles in a chocolate covered mug dressed in popcorn bits.

The latter one is a similarly dressed vanilla ice cream blended with banana and nutella and topped with whipped cream, banana dipped in chocolate, unicorn pop, candy necklace and sprinkles in a chocolate covered mug dressed in sprinkles.

They also have something for the chocolate and cheesecake lovers. The Chocolate Cake (P340) is served with chocolate sauce while the White Chocolate Cheesecake (P415) is topped with fresh strawberries, cookie crumbs and white chocolate ganache.

But Sugar Factory saved the best for last – the World Famous Sugar Factory King Kong Sundae (P2,900) – came in literally with a bang! 24 scoops of ice cream covered with hot fudge, caramel and strawberry sauce, sliced bananas, toasted marshmallows, Reeses’s pieces, chocolate chip cookies, crushed waffle cones, gummi bears, white chocolate, strawberry shavings and toasted walnuts with whipped cream, and giant lollipops.

That was a mouthful!

The visually appetizing Banana-Split Waffles (P420) didn’t reach our table, but I’m making sure to order that in my next visit. Its 2 warm waffles were topped with fresh bananas, strawberries, melted chocolate sauce and chocolate crunchies; served with vanilla ice cream (bring me back to Sugar Factory now!). 🙂

Cocktails and Sweets, Anyone?

Beyond the usual partners in Sugar Factory would be your sweets and cocktails, mocktails, and martinis. These spiked adult beverages made with premium spirits includes Sugar Factory’s signature 36-ounce alcohol-infused smoking candy goblets.

We had a tiny sip of each of the S’mores Chocolate Martini (P380), Hubba Bubba Gum (P320), Mai Tai Goblet (P700), Ocean Blue (P900), White Gummi (P1000), Passion Punch (P800), and the innocent-looking Lollipop Passion (P1600). The last one is a mix of melon, coconut and pineapple meant to be shared!
