10th Goldilocks Cake Deco Finals Set with “Xtreme” Challenges Ahead!

As part of it’s 50th anniversary celebration, Goldilocks has slated it’s 10th Intercollegiate Cake Decorating Challenge (lCDC) to be bigger than ever!

Highlighting the artistry involved in cake decoration, this innovative competition has grown to become a nationwide activity that is highly anticipated by both participating schools and audiences alike.

Take a brief ‘flashback’ of last year’s Goldilocks Cake Deco Challenge 2015 here.

Intercollegiate Cake Decorating Challenge Finals

ICDC is beyond the usual submit-display-and-judge cake decorating contests. It is extemporaneous in nature and requires not only familiarity with techniques, but a definite originality and creativity to set the winning team apart.

Recently, almost one hundred schools submitted entries in hopes of being chosen as one of the ten finalists. On contest day, ten teams will share one stage and one central supply bin. They will decorate their cakes within a given time frame, based on themes that are revealed to them at that very moment. This is all done in front of a live audience and a panel of judges composed of the leading authorities in the culinary arts industry.

ICDC Prizes

Aside from the pride and esteem of being the grand champion, the winning school will receive a baking showcase worth a quarter of a million pesos, while the team itself will receive P20,000 in Goldilocks gift certificates.

ICDC Xtreme

Being a milestone year for Goldilocks and the ICDC, this year’s competition can be expected to be more demanding for the talented participants.

This is the 10th year of the ICDC, coinciding with the 50th anniversary or Goldilocks…because of this, I’ve decided to add some major twists. In fact, we’re calling this year’s competition ‘lCDC Xtreme’,“ explained Goldilocks Marketing Director Cherry Caluya.

While these new elements cannot be revealed as of present, one thing is for sure – they are challenging enough to warrant expert supervision.

Our Own Cake-Decorating Challenge

In the press conference earlier today together with some media, we were challenged by Goldilocks to try cake-decorating ourselves. And so we did!

We were first shown a demonstration by the Goldilocks expert and we were made to work with these limited resources to decorate our cake.

For the first time, NomNom Club tried cake-decoration. In the end, this was the result of our efforts.

Three well-deserving cakes were recognised at the end. Although, NomNom Club did not win, it was a pleasant experience having tried it for the first time. And it was not easy! 🙂

I think I still need to work on the “GoldiLOVE” lettering, don’t you think so? 🙂
