We’ve been to Merkado Supermarket in UP Town Center a couple of times already. But a few weeks ago, we caught something interesting near the supermarket counters just before we do our weekly grocery routine – a cooking demo by McCormick featuring their new McCormick Noodles and Seasoning Mixes!

We arrived in Merkado just in time as the chef-in-charge introduced the new McCormick Noodles and seasoning mixes.
First up in the chef’s list of recipes is a famous recipe among our Chinese friends in the Philippines – the Birthday Noodles. With about 10% of the Philippine population having a blood-mix from Chinese decent, and I myself being half-Chinese, you can say that this recipe comes close to the heart of the Filipinos.
The dish looks elaborate and hard to prepare but the chef from McCormick made it quickly with the McCormick Birthday Noodles and seasoning mix. He also mentioned that the packs are of course available in the Merkado Supermarket shelves for only Php 122.

He then prepared the Laksa variant for a more Asian taste which I believe is prevalent in Malaysia and Singapore, among other south-east asian countries.
This was followed by a showcase of the other variants including Pad Thai, Laksa, Chap Chae, and a Filipino favorite - Palabok. The first three are priced Php 198, the latter one Php 122.

We were not able to finish the McCormick Cooking Demo because we still had to proceed with our Sunday grocery but me and my wife made sure to pass by the McCormick Noodles shelf inside Merkado Supermarket and got ourselves some packs to bring home and try some of the recipes ourselves. 🙂
