Kogi Bulgogi KPOP Chicken

Kogi Bulgogi shows that it continues to innovate despite already being one of the popular Korean casual restaurants in the Philippines today by recently introducing its newest offering – the KPOP Chicken.

Although Kogi Bulgogi already had a former Korean style fried chicken that comes with rice syrup dip priced at Php 265, it acknowledged customer demand for a Korean style fried chicken that Filipinos are looking for – something both crispy and crunchy with a unique taste.

The new Kogi Bulgogi KPOP Chicken is inspired form Korea’s popular chicken craze that’s crispy crunchy and available in sweet soy wings or spicy soy. Both secret sauce recipes will make your good Korean chicken even better. The sesame seeds and green onions that you will visibly see on the chicken adds the extra zest for the complete Kogi Bulgogi KPOP Chicken experience. Lastly, it adopted to its local customers demand for a more flexible pricing structure that’s friendly on the pocket similar to it’s fast-food counterparts but on a served-dining experience you will get from Kogi Bulgogi:

The Kogi Bulgogi Experience

NomNom Club pleasantly experienced this first hand when the restaurant invited us over two weeks ago at their Kogi Bulgogi Gateway branch. I’ve been hearing a lot of good things about Kogi Bulgogi‘s Bibimbap, Bulgogi, and Japchae so I was excited to try them for the first time. The restaurant has a modern Korean touch with a fancy focus on details. From the wall designs to Korean pop art and from the comfortable chairs to eye-catching lighting fixtures, you will not only have good food, but good ambiance as well.

More Kogi Bulgogi Dishes

Aside from the feature-focus KPOP Chicken, we also had soup & stew appetizers whose spice level could be adjusted to different degrees from 1 to 10. This was followed by a serving of California Roll (6pcs php 160; 12pcs Php 310) that reveals fresh crabsticks, mango, and rice rolled in fish roe in every bite.

For fillers, we also had the light Haemul Pa Jeon (Php 180) mixed seafood pancake and my favorite Korean dish – Japchae (Php 258). The stir fried vermicelli with pork and mixed vegetables did not disappoint. These were further complemented by a serving of the Kimchi Rice. Although I’m not much of a kimchi fan, their Kimchi Rice was an interesting discovery.

To stir things up further, we also had Soju with Soda Water. It’s basically soju mixed with soda water and freshly squeezed fruit juice of your choice (Grapefruit at Php 198, Orange/Lemon at Php 178). Desserts came in the form of Melona ice cream.

Overall, the KPOP Chicken is a welcome addition to the Kogi Bulgogi menu. In contrast to similar dishes from BonChon, Four Fingers, and the new Kyochon chicken, KPOP Chicken offers something a bit different with their more ‘saucy‘ approach with the sweet soy and spicy soy option.

Try the Kogi Bulgogi KPOP Chicken the soonest and share your experiences with us in the comment section below. I’m bringing wifey to Kogi Bulgogi as soon as she’s recovered from the recent medical operation. Watch out for our joint review at Seats For Two.
